A Record Year of Impact: Honoring the Work of Wisconsin’s Disability Advocates

by | Uncategorized

As we close out another incredible year at Wispact and the Wispact Foundation, we feel immense pride and gratitude. We’ve just wrapped up our fourth year of grantmaking through the Wispact Foundation’s Legacy Grant Program—and it’s our biggest yet.

The Wispact Foundation proudly awarded a record $1,510,344 in total funding. This includes 175 grants to nonprofit organizations including the launch of a new scholarship initiative that will support 10 organizations through a yearlong capacity-building cohort in 2026.

That number isn’t just a milestone—it’s a reflection of the growing network of nonprofits, caregivers, educators, and advocates who work tirelessly every day to support individuals with disabilities. These grants are helping make real, tangible differences: from increasing access to transportation and housing, to enhancing mental and physical health, education, recreation, and so much more.

We’re especially proud that this support reaches communities both large and small—from rural to urban communities. No corner of our state is untouched by the important work our grantees do. And we are truly honored to be their partners in this mission.

At Wispact, we believe in a world where all people with disabilities have the opportunity to live meaningful, self-directed lives. The Wispact Foundation—established just a few years ago in 2021—was built on that vision. It’s our way of going beyond trust management to make a broader, sustainable impact. Our Foundation’s work is powered by the same commitment that drives everything we do: enhancing well-being, expanding opportunity, and fostering inclusion.

“The Wispact Foundation’s most recent grant cycle represents the growth of not only our capacity for community impact but the commitment of our staff and Board of Directors to support the evolving needs of nonprofits and specifically disability services,” said Eric DeGroot, Foundation Director of Wispact, Inc. “And our new capacity-building cohort program strengthens the nonprofit sector by investing in the long-term growth and sustainability of organizations serving people with disabilities.”

To all of the nonprofits who received a Wispact Legacy Grant this year: thank you. Your work uplifts communities and opens doors that too often remain closed. We’re inspired by your dedication, and we’re honored to walk alongside you.

As we look ahead to 2026, we remain committed to growing our impact, deepening our partnerships, and continuing to champion equity and access for people of all ages with disabilities across Wisconsin. Together, we are creating a more inclusive and empowered future.

With gratitude and hope,

Wispact Foundation and Wispact
