At Revitalize Milwaukee, the belief is simple but powerful: everyone deserves a safe and healthy home.

For years, Revitalize Milwaukee has worked to empower low-income seniors, veterans, individuals living with disabilities, and families with children impacted by lead and asthma-related housing concerns by providing critical home repairs and safety modifications.

“Our mission is to enhance living conditions, foster independence, and restore dignity,” shared Melanie Roach, CEO of Revitalize Milwaukee. “Together, we build stronger communities—home by home, block by block.”

Supporting Independence Through Partnership

The recent Wispact Foundation grant is helping Revitalize Milwaukee advance its mission in meaningful and lasting ways. The funding directly supports individuals living with disabilities by helping provide essential assistive devices and home modifications that improve accessibility and safety. These improvements may include ramps, grab bars, adaptive equipment, and air filtration systems—resources that allow individuals to remain safely and independently in their homes.

“This is not just about equipment,” Roach explained. “It’s about dignity, autonomy, and quality of life.”

In addition to direct support, the grant is helping fuel a targeted awareness campaign focused on the risks of lead exposure among individuals with disabilities—an often-overlooked issue that disproportionately impacts vulnerable communities. By investing in prevention, education, and outreach, Revitalize Milwaukee hopes to create lasting systemic change that improves health outcomes for years to come.

Why This Funding Matters

Without support like the Wispact Foundation grant, many individuals and families could face increased barriers to safety and independence. Critical home modifications or assistive devices may go uninstalled, increasing fall risks, limiting mobility, and potentially forcing individuals into institutional care instead of allowing them to remain in their homes and communities.

Additionally, reduced funding for outreach and lead awareness efforts could leave medically vulnerable individuals exposed to unsafe living conditions for longer periods of time.

“The need continues to grow,” said Roach. “This support allows us to respond more effectively and create safer, healthier environments for the people who need it most.”

A Positive Partnership with Wispact Foundation

Revitalize Milwaukee described the grant experience with Wispact Foundation as supportive, accessible, and community-centered.

“Our experience working with Wispact was incredibly positive,” Roach shared. “The application process was simple and accessible, and we never felt overwhelmed or lost. More importantly, the people behind the process truly care. They understand the real needs of the community and go above and beyond to support those they serve.”

That shared commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities reflects the mission-driven work both organizations continue to pursue across Wisconsin.
